HDR (-2, 0, +2), f/6.4, ISO 200, 16mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II
Shooting HDR held some detail in the sky. Alas those clouds weren't around for very long. It was full-on, harsh sunshine for the rest of the day.

1/200, f/6.3, ISO 640, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 35mm f/1.4L
The groom and his groomers photographed on some shady steps. Because I'm quite close to them I've had to stop down to keep them all in focus.
1/200, f/2.8, ISO 200, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 35mm f/1.4L
Even nicer light under the shade of a tree. Negative exposure compensation (EC) due to the dark tones in the background.

I hope that's just a half he's ordering.

That is one cool-looking grandad.

The bride and her pater arrive.

An establishing shot of the bride and her entourage. Where's a nice soft fluffy cloud when you need one?
1/400, f/2, ISO 50, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L
I found a little patch of open shade to get a shot of the bride in softer light.

I instructed my minder to destroy his memory card.

Fortunately he was not sporting a Kenny G chest wig.

The entrance of the bride with her father ready to catch.

1/250, f/1.4, ISO 800, 2 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II
I went for the maximum allowable EC when shooting in aperture priority mode of +2 stops. If this had not been enough I'd have had to shift to manual mode.

Even at this early age the Canon-Nikon decision has been made.

With careful positioning you can get away with shooting in direct sunlight.

But a bit of open shade is always preferable, particularly for close-ups.
