Ramada Maidstone Wedding

My website: Wedding Photographers in Kent

A selection of images from Teri and Mark's wedding on Saturday at The Ramada Hotel in Maidstone. Please check out their wedding gallery.

HDR (-2, 0, +2), f/6.4, ISO 200, 16mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

1/200, f/3.5, ISO 640, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

The room was rather busy. Coverting to B&W focuses attention on the flower girl.

1/160, f/2, ISO 320, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

I always love to get an armpit shot. Excellent depilation.

1/500, f/1.4, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/200, f/2.8, ISO 400, 0 EV, 28mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

The lovely bride. I placed her in the sweet spot of light from the window.

1/250, f/2.8, ISO 800, ‒ ⅓ EV, 29mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

Again, B&W reduces the impact of distractions in the room.

1/160, f/4, ISO 400, ‒ ⅓ EV, 30mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

1/125, f/4, ISO 800, ‒ ⅓ EV, 23mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

Both of the above groups are shot at shorter focal lengths then I'd ideally like but my primary objective was to place the subjects in the best possible light which happened to be quite close to the window. Hence the wide angled shot.

1/320, f/2.8, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

HDR (-2, 0, +2), f/8, ISO 400, 35mm f/1.4L

Nice dramatic sky. Hope the guests have brollies.

The first glance between the couple. Unfortunately the sun chose this moment to leap out from behind a cloud, resulting in harsh light and hard shadows. Not much could be done about this in the above situation, but as wedding photographers we should always try our best to reduce the impact of poor light. Taking advantage of open shade, careful placement of subjects (with the sun behind them) and fill flash are all options to consider.

Fortunately the couple are always moved into the protective shade of the gazebo for the ceremony. Notice the positive exposure compensation to take account of the bright background.

1/640, f/2, ISO 200, ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/3200, f/1.4, ISO 200, 1 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

I was chuckling watching these two - like a couple of schoolgirls.

1/160, f/4, ISO 100, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/6400, f/1.2, ISO 200, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/5000, f/1.4, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

The sun was out for the group shots but I could now chose where to place my subjects.

1/1250, f/4, ISO 100, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

With the sun behind them gives a rim lighting effect.

1/800, f/1.4, ISO 100, ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/125, f/2, ISO 200, 0 EV, 0 FEC, 35mm f/1.4L

Flash in left hand, zoomed into 50mm and bounced off the wall to the left, and triggered by the PocketWizard flex system.

1/2000, f/1.4, ISO 200, 1 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

With the sun behind them and positive EC to compensate.

1/200, f/9, ISO 200, ²⁄₃ EV, 21mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

There was no way I could hide the roundabout so I decided to use it.

1/200, f/2.8, ISO 1600, ⅓ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/1250, f/2, ISO 1600, ⅓ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/200, f/2, ISO 800, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/400, f/1.6, ISO 1000, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/500, f/2.2, ISO 1000, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/160, f/2.5, ISO 500, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II
