It was very sunny on Sunday but I'd spotted a lovely area of light in the churchyard. Since the bridal party arrived in good time I whisked them over there for a quick photoshoot.

And now into the full glare of the sun.

1/80, f/2.8, ISO 3200, ²⁄₃ EV, 200mm, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS

A very dark church - check out that exposure.

As well as being very sunny it was also very windy.

Another gust of wind.

The arrival at Hartlip Place. Negative exposure compensation protected the highlights.

And now inside with some lovely soft reflected light.

1/200, f/2.8, ISO 800, ⅓ EV, 22mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

My eyes lit up when I saw the staircase.

1/320, f/1.4, ISO 200, ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

There weren't many opportunities like this outside. Most areas were semi-shaded with heavily dappled light.

They wanted shots in the rose garden so I positioned them with the sun behind.

A mock cake cut...

...and now a mock first dance. Check out the negative EC. If I'd needed more than 2 stops of adjustment I'd have switched to manual mode.

It doesn't take too much imagination to work out what his last comment was.

And farewell to Hartlip Place. Whilst I'd been in the marquee shooting the speeches the sky had completely clouded over!

Comments and queries are always welcome.

Your photography is amazing! Our grandfather was confirmed in this church in 1901 and while doing research found your site. Our grandfather rang the churchbells when he was young.
