The frost was cruel.

But rather pretty.

Hopefully I've convinced you by now that it was freezing cold. I put an extension tube on the lens to allow me to get the macro shot above.

The lovely bride.

The bridesmaids were most entertaining. I love the action pose with the hairspray in the background.

The bride's sister who hates having her photo taken.

And now joined by the circus ringmaster.

She had the sniffles and I suggested a way of solving it.

Very brave young ladies.

The bride and groom portrait session commences. Despite offers the bride went without additional garments - true grit.

I attended one of Jerry Ghionis' seminars earlier this year. He pointed out that when you ask the couple to kiss, the man always adopts a protective position closest to the camera. To capture the more flattering pose with the lady in front you need to request it - which is what I did for the shot above.

An infrequently viewed angle of Cooling Castle.

One benefit of winter weddings is that the ambient light is typically quite low during the portrait session (it was 3:30pm) and allows you to have fun with flash. I know the above style is not to everyone's taste but I still get a kick out of it.

The bride's father kindly served as the voice-activated light stand. Rather than playing with FEC I got him to vary his position.
