Part I of a selection of images from Jenny and Paul's wedding on Saturday at The Guildhall, The Secret Gardens and The Bell Hotel in Sandwich. Please check out their wedding gallery or this non-Flash based gallery.

I made a quick stop at St John's Cottages, adjacent to The Guildhall, to take a few shots of the boys finishing their preparations. Above, the groom and his dad.

The room was very small and very poorly lit. Always handy to have a wide angle lens in your bag.

And now the bridal suite in The Bell Hotel. The labels read 'dancing shoes for achy toes' - how sweet!

The bride and her mum. Positioned to take advantage of nice window light.

And just when she thought she had a moment to herself...
1/160, f/1.6, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L
It's that nice window light again.

And one last shot of the ladies before dashing off to The Guildhall.
1/80, f/2.2, ISO 400, ‒ 1 EV, 35mm f/1.4L
Best man plus rings. Notice the negative exposure compensation.
1/80, f/2.8, ISO 500, 0 EV, 35mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II
1/200, f/2.2, ISO 2500, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II
The light in The Guildhall is not pleasant. It's a mix of tungsten, fluorescent and window light. I decided to shoot without flash and do my best at achieving a neutral white balance in post-production.
1/200, f/1.4, ISO 1000, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L
1/160, f/1.4, ISO 1000, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II
1/200, f/1.2, ISO 800, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II
Of course, converting to B&W removes the white balance issue.
1/100, f/2.5, ISO 2500, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L
1/60, f/3.5, ISO 2500, ‒ ⅓ EV, 16mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II
1/125, f/2.8, ISO 3200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 20mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II
That ISO setting just keeps going up!

It was very busy outside The Guildhall with lots of buses and pedestrians. I therefore shot wide to minimise background distractions.

Their heads were in shadow and so I bounced flash off the windscreen. Obviously most of the light went through the windscreen but enough returned to do the job.
1/200, f/4.5, ISO 1000, 0 EV, 35mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II
And now a return to The Bell Hotel for the reception and the bride and groom portrait session in The Secret Gardens. More to follow shortly...
