Weddings at St Martin's, Canterbury

My website: Wedding Photographers in Kent

A selection of images from Emma and Alex's wedding yesterday at St Martin's Church, Canterbury and The Ramada Hotel, Dover. Please check out their wedding gallery.

1/1000, f/1.4, ISO 400, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

Grooms are not meant to be this relaxed before a wedding.

The church was quite dark but no problem for a 5D Mark II.

That moment when the vicar asks friends and families if they'll support the couple.

Modern dads on duty. Plus tourists in the background.

Flash bounced off wall (up and to my right) with the flash head zoomed into 100mm.

Michael Flatley, eat your heart out.

An even more impressive leap.

1/250, f/4, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 16mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

Unleash hell on my command.

1/800, f/2.8, ISO 200, ‒ ²⁄₃ EV, -3 FEC, 24mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

I gave them a 580EX II Speedlite attached to a PocketWizard flexTT5 unit to hold. I thought the E-TTL algorithm would struggle with metering in this situation (what am I supposed to light here? one can imagine it asking itself) and so dialled down the flash exposure compensation (FEC) by 3 stops. You need to do this on the Speedlite unit - you only have 2 stops of adjustment using the camera.

It was glorious sunshine when we got to the Ramada Hotel in Dover. There was little in the way of shade and limited options with regard to neutral vistas. I found a tree with solid shade and then plumped for a high key background.

Another feat of athletic prowess (the dress was very heavy).

1/400, f/1.2, ISO 200, ²⁄₃ EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/2000, f/4, ISO 100, ‒ 1 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/1250, f/1.8, ISO 100, ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/250, f/1.4, ISO 100, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/1250, f/1.4, ISO 100, 0 EV, 35mm f/1.4L

Wow, that is a large tongue.

1/320, f/3.5, ISO 100, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

Again, limited options for the group shots. Managed to find a reasonably shady spot with a foliage background.

1/4000, f/1.6, ISO 100, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

1/320, f/1.4, ISO 100, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

1/160, f/2.8, ISO 640, 0 EV, 85mm f/1.2L II

Look into my eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes...

1/160, f/3.2, ISO 200, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

1/250, f/3.2, ISO 400, ‒ ⅓ EV, 35mm, 16-35mm f/2.8L II

Comments and queries are more than welcome!
