It could have been designed for this.

Working in the chain gang.

The sun was shining mercilessly but fortunately the registrars brought the couple into shade where the light was more forgiving. This phenomenon is known in photographic circles as the gazebo effect.

...and he's already succumbed.

The ceiling of the gazebo was stained wood and not ideal for bouncing flash. I therefore put my camera on a flash bracket, fitted with a Speedlite and a Lastolite micro Apollo diffuser. I don't use it that often but it's very handy to have.

Notice the negative exposure compensation (EC) to correct the exposure for the dark tones.

I found a wonderful natural light sweet spot.

Again, just natural light.

And now time for the speeches.

When hands are gripped you know that tears are going to follow.

What did I tell you.

1/200, f/2.8, ISO 400, ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

The father of the bride panting with the exertion of speech-making.

1/160, f/2.2, ISO 400, ⅓ EV, 35mm f/1.4L

This young lady is taking no prisoners.
